Graduated from Colonial Hills Christian High School in 1986, Jefferson State College in 1990, and Auburn University in 1992.
I'm a huge Atlanta Braves fan, and adopted the Pittsburgh Steelers as my Pro football team when I got married. I began my radio career while attending college, with my first job in radio as a sportscaster at Auburn University. (I bleed Orange and Blue! Go Tigers!)

Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office statement this evening concerning the death today of Country star Mindy McCready.
"At 3:31 PM, Sunday, February 17th Deputies from the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a report of gun shots fired in the area of 1132 Fox Chase Drive in Heber Springs. Officers arrived on the scene at 3:58 PM and discovered the body of 37 year old Melinda Gayle McCready on the front porch of the residence at 1132 Fox Chase. Ms. McCready was pronounced dead at the scene from what appears to be a single self-inflicted gunshot wound. At this time family members have been notified of the incident. Ms. Mcready will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and the matter will be fully investigated."
Mindy McCready has committed suicide.
The singer, who had two young boys, had reportedly struggled with alcohol and mental health issues in recent months and had checked herself into an inpatient rehab facility two weeks ago after the death of her boyfriend, producer David Wilson.
A reporter at FOX 17 in Nashville, tweeted: “A close family friend of Mindy McCready has informed me that the country singer has committed suicide.”
A short time later she tweeted: “The Mindy McCready suicide I told you about has now been confirmed from 4 different sources. A statement from the family is in the works.”
McCloud said she spoke to McCready’s family who confirmed the news.
Andrea Canning, a correspondent for NBC News, is also reporting McCready committed suicide on Sunday. Canning said a family friend told her that McCready “shot and killed herself this evening.”
E! News spoke also with a family friend who confirmed the news.
About a month ago, McCready’s boyfriend, David Wilson, died at the age of 34. His cause of death has has not been released, however the investigation is still open.
A source close to the 37-year-old says us her body was found in Heber Springs, Ark. "Things have been hectic. But I'm still here..," the star tweeted in January.
Just a little over a month ago, McCready's boyfriend, David Wilson, died at the age of 34 with no cause of death or details surrounding his passing being revealed, however continues to be under investigation.
