The Tim McGraw-Curb Records courtroom drama continues.
Curb has filed a lawsuit against Tim and his current label, Big Machine, in federal court, claiming copyright infringement and breach of contract. Curb has also sued Tim in Tennessee state court, but the label has failed to keep Tim from recording new music with Big Machine.
The lawsuit asks for a return of master recordings, compensatory and punitive damages, and an injunction against future recording or releases until the Curb contract with Tim has been fulfilled. The state case remains in front of a judge, but the court allowed Tim to record for a new label in a decision that’s been upheld on appeal.
Big Machine released his new album Two Lanes of Freedom in February. The tour of the same name kicks off Thursday in Birmingham, Alabama with Love and Theft and Brantley Gilbert opening.
Jason Aldean filed divorce papers late last week in Williamson County, Tennessee.
The papers cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split from Jessica Ussery, his wife of 12-years. The filing comes after word last week that the high school sweethearts were separating.
Last year, when Jason was photographed kissing an American Idol contestant after a gig, he issued a public apology, and it appeared that he and Jessica were working out their problems. But suspicions began to surface when he showed up at the recent ACM Awards alone.
